Quotes from I Am That BY NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ

Quotes from I Am That     BY NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ

Give up all questions except one, "Who am I?" After all the only fact you are sure of is that you "are". The "I am" is certain, the "I am this" is not. Struggle to find out what you are in reality. (Chapter 21; Who Am I?)

Be content with what you are sure of. And the only thing you can be sure of is "I am". Stay with it and reject everything else. This is Yoga. (Chapter 36; Killing Hurts the Killer not the Killed)

Love says: "I am everything". Wisdom says: "I am nothing". Between the two my life flows. (Chapter 57; Beyond the Mind There is no Suffering)

To deal with things, knowledge of things is needed. To deal with people, you need insight, sympathy. To deal with yourself, you need nothing. Be what you are — conscious being — and don't stray away from yourself. (Chapter 66; All Search for Happiness is Misery)

Disciple: Master, show me a way to self realization.
Master: keep asking yourself " Who am I ?" that is asking this question.
Disciple: that is easy!
or when you have any thought to whom that arise,
to whom is the thought arise,
or when I am doing any action  " who is the one who is doing the action?"

"In short observe the observer."
See the seer,
Hear the hearer,
without making any mental or physical effort to to do it.
Just ask the question who am I? and leave it."
Disciple: Let me try it.
